With influences such as Jeff Lang, Adam Hole, John Butler Trio and Ani Difranco, Bliss are described as having a sound like Angus and Julia Stone and The Waifs. The Canberra Duo comprising artists Kris Wegener (Vocals and guitar) and Minh Ha (guitar, lap steel and percussion) collaborated after they both played a gig last year. Since then they have been working together on complimenting each other's sound and creating something new. Their smooth, melodic sound is true testimony to this. They have played a few gigs around the Canberra scene and have just released their first CD. For more information on this great duo check out http://www.myspace.com/blissduo
Andi and George are singer/songwriters that found each other in Canberra in May 2006. They are happy souls who love to make music, dance, eat good food and encourage other musicians and performers to join the party! The duo have now traded their University degrees for the opportunity to travel the country in a rad Tour Bus in 2008 and hope to spread good vibes, happy beats and great energy to all. The crew consists of 15 Canberra based musicians that make all kinds of music. Soul, funk, hip-hop, reggae, samba, folk, jazz, blues and rock. Through enduring times and stubborn persistence, this idea has come into fruition, in the form of 3 recording artists known as Jessica "Baby J" Holmick, Ghostwrita "it's ya boy Ghost!" and A.L. In a collaborative unit, Capital Underground is able to blend soulful music together with hard hitting rhythms and thought-provoking lyrics. Their ultimate goal is to draw their audience to empathise and relate to the pictures portrayed in their creative works.
Capital Underground write/produce their own tracks. They also bring their music to life in stage performances with their dance crew, the Assault Squad. Capital Underground was formed in 2007 under the INVAZION PRODUCTIONS music label. Forming in early 2006 Canberra based 4-piece ESCAPE SYNDROME has enjoyed an exciting and hectic 2 years together. From humble beginnings as a youth band, Escape Syndrome has worked hard to become a leading force within the Canberra music scene. Bringing a unique mix of intricate melodies, catchy hooks and soaring vocal lines, and being recognised within the local scene for their energetic and high powered live shows, Escape Syndrome is a band constantly striving to better themselves.
After playing constantly throughout 2006, gaining a small local following and recording a rough 3 track demo, Escape Syndrome kicked off 2007 with the release of their debut album WRONGTURNRIGHT. The album offered a solid mix of guitar driven, odd time based metal and solid, straight forward punk rock, as well as one acoustic ballad, which featured Escape Syndrome’s first experimentation using string arrangements. The song ‘Shadows’, with its ghostly violin and cello sections, and powerful lyrics, gained the attention of local radio station FM104.7, and has since received regular radio airplay on the stations ‘Homegrown’ segment.
Now, in 2008, Escape Syndrome is beginning the recording of their latest offering; a 5 track EP, which will be released later this year. The quartet is also gearing up to play shows in Melbourne, Sydney and surrounding regions, as they continue to build their fan base at home and interstate.
