Our Community Development Program fosters community connection, participation and inclusion.

We achieve this by building relationships with community members, groups, government, community organisations and local businesses.

Community development looks to positively shape our future through connected effort and sharing responsibility between individuals, community organisations, businesses and all levels of government.

Often described as being driven from the bottom-up, community development recognises that people and communities have the knowledge, skills, and passion to create sustainable and thriving communities.

The WCS Community Development Program:

  • supports community driven initiatives
  • promotes inclusion and accessibility
  • advocates for needs identified by the community
  • provides opportunities for community to lead program delivery
  • facilitates place-based and local initiatives
  • promotes activities for community members, particularly those who are vulnerable, to encourage connection and participation in community life.

Our community development team provides a safe and inclusive space to chat about ideas, community needs, brainstorm and facilitate citizen-led action. We believe small community actions create big impacts.

We work with volunteers, citizens, community groups, local business, community organisations and all levels of government.
