#ThrowbackSaturday… Waitangi Day at the multicultural Lollipop ELC!!!
Cultural diversity provides a range of opportunities for #children and #families to celebrate together their traditions. This allows them to embrace differences in gender, disabilities, age, social, culture and economic backgrounds. That is why on February 5, we celebrated ‘#WaitangiDay’ (Māori: Te Rā o Waitangi), the national day of New Zealand.
To celebrate this day, the children learnt some of the #Māori songs such as ‘Kina Kina’ and ‘Ma is white’. Also, many children participated in the painting activities and learnt various #NewZealand patterns. Preschool children watched ‘Haka’ and ‘Poi’ dance. One child from New Zealand while watching ‘Haka’ proudly said ‘My Dad’ and showed us his #Haka dance moves ????
What a fantastic day we all had! We are all proud of being surrounded by different #cultures, which gives children an insight into #CulturalDiversity in #Australia.
