#InternationalWomenDay ????
At #WCS we want to honour all women, those who with their courage and dedication make the world a better place to live, and what better way to do it than recognising WCS women.
Today we want to introduce you to Leanne.
Hello! My name is Leanne Heald and I’m the Manager of #NDIS and The Big Issue Australia in #Canberra. I’m dedicated to #socialjustice and reducing the stigma usually associated with #MentalIllness and #Disability. I love my role at WCS because I’m privileged to make a real difference in people’s lives.
Being invited into a vulnerable person’s life to assist them to build and achieve the quality of life they desire is the best part of the job. I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to have a valuable role within their #society. That is why leading dedicated staff is very rewarding because I’m fortunate to see the hard work and passion that my team brings to bear every day, regardless of the challenging environment at NDIS.
Being a manager and a woman is an honour. I consider it my duty as a woman to lead other women to reach their potential. Seeing women in managerial roles empowers and reduces the gender stereotype that we only belong in caring-type roles. I can do both, as a #mother, a #woman and a #manager in the #community sector. I get to support vulnerable people, lead a team of professionals, and raise my daughter to inspire other women.
I am #strong, #empowered and #resilient, and I get to share these qualities with the world.
