The Big Issue

20141103 Big Issue Xmas ACT 0010

The Big Issue Australia is the country's longest standing social enterprise. The Big Issue develops sustainable and creative solutions to homelessness; providing opportunities for people to positively change their lives.

The Big Issue magazine is a fortnightly, independent publication that is sold on the streets by people who are homeless, marginalised or experiencing disadvantage.

Vendors purchase copies of the magazine for $3.50 and sell them on the streets for $7.00, earning the difference. As well as earning a regular income, vendors build their confidence and capacity to help themselves.

WCS & The Big Issue

WCS manages the ACT operations of The Big Issue. We distribute magazines and provide support, training and materials to vendors. This support extends to assistance with tackling housing, health, training or employment problems.
