Community transport enables many older people to access health services they might not be able to otherwise, resulting in opportunities for early intervention and better health outcomes. The service offers transport to life-sustaining treatments such as chemotherapy, and dialysis. This can reduce the burden on the health system as well as families, careers and friends of the person needing assistance. The service can also enrich the quality of life for the older person who might use the service for basic allied health services such as optometry, physiotherapy and podiatry which can support the person to remain in their own home, safely, for longer.
