National child protection week is observed from 4-10 September 2022 to embrace that ‘every child in every community needs a fair go’ and all children need to feel safe and supported. At Margaret Hendry OSHC, all the activities for the week were designed to involve children to make them understand their safety and create a supportive environment for them
Making safety hand prints and Safety network were among some of the activities in which children drew their hand prints and wrote what makes them feel safe. They decorated their hand print and wrote those things or people that make them happy. They also made flowers out of paper and wrote about the people they can approach in difficult situations. Most children feel safe when they are at home or when they are with their parents. We also discussed children’s rights and safety during the circle times. It’s obvious that all the children feel safe around those people who are familiar but it is very important for children to recognize suspicious behavior and ask for help.
